Los Angeles, CA (May, 10, 2011) - Mary Dowell, partner at Liebert Cassidy Whitmore's Los Angeles Office and chair of the education law practice group, was named one of the Daily Journal's Top 75 Women Litigators for 2011.
This annual ranking by California's legal press evaluates top California women lawyers of various practice disciplines and selects the "best and brightest" attorneys involved in "the most cutting edge legal work." The Daily Journal recognized Ms. Dowell for her litigation work in Reed, et al. v. State of California, Lopez v. Candaele, and LAUSD v. Commission on Professional Competence.

With 30 years of experience in labor, employment, and education law, Mary Dowell has an extensive background in the successful resolution of many education-related and employment issues. Her primary area of expertise is representing and advising community college districts in a general counsel role. Mary has tried cases before state and federal trial and appellate courts, PERB, and various state and federal administrative agencies. She has represented clients in cases involving labor relations, employment discrimination and employee discipline, as well as in cases involving education law, free speech rights, student issues, and general public agency property and business issues.
Ms. Dowell received her JD from University of California, Davis School of Law and her BA from University of California, Davis.
