When the Fair Labor Standards Act finally became fully applicable to schools in 1985, the U.S. Department of Labor modified certain interpretive regulations in recognition of the unique issues facing schools. However, the act and its implementing regulations are still ambiguous regarding many of these issues. This article will address common challenges schools face in complying with the FLSA.
