
Maiya has for ten years engaged in a diverse
practice that includes advising and representing school districts,
cities, joint powers authorities and non-profit organizations.
She devotes a
significant part of her practice handling a broad spectrum of
construction, real estate and business matters on behalf of school
districts and cities, including bidding and bid protests, claims and disputes with
general contractors, architects, insurance companies, and subcontractor
liens. Further, Maiya is experienced in handling the sale and purchase
of real estate and personal properties, and drafting and negotiations of
contracts. She handles complex litigation involving these matters.
Maiya’s practice has
also included drafting school district policies as well as municipal
ordinances and resolutions and organizational documents for joint powers
authorities and non-profit organizations.
Maiya earned her
Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall
School of Law; her Master of Arts in Asian Studies from the University
of California, Berkeley and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political
Science and Rhetoric and Communication from the University of
California, Davis.
