The Unique Challenges of Disability Accommodation for Public Safety Employees

Category: Webinars on Demand

This webinar focuses on the challenges that public safety departments face in accommodating disabled public safety employees, including the interplay between light duty, Labor Code section 4850 leave, and workers’ compensation laws.   The presenter will help to answer questions such as:  When to remove peace officer powers of a disabled public safety officer?  When to grant and/or end light or modified duty?  What is the employer required to do with the disabled employee who cannot return to his/her essential job duties during this time?  What can an employer do if the worker’s compensation attorneys say that the employee cannot be separated until the claim is either accepted or denied or a specific treatment is authorized.  But how long will that take?  And then what? Does the employer have to wait until all treatment options are exhausted?  And where does Section 4850 leave tie in?  And what benefits need to be provided during all of these different leaves?  Knowing how to answer these questions can help you achieve a successful resolution and avoid liability, but not knowing can add extra time, expense and liability exposure you cannot afford.  All of these questions and more will be answered in this upcoming webinar.

Who Should Attend?
