2 Day FLSA Academy

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Academy offers an in-depth training program for public agencies on one of the most fundamental employment areas – items dealing with wages and hours. The FLSA became applicable to the public sector in 1986, and governs many significant matters that supervisors, human resources, finance, and labor relations professionals need to understand and ensure agency compliance. But the FLSA often confuses and complicates the lives of public agencies. We understand the struggle is real and this program is designed to help you strategize through those struggles and walk away feeling comfortable that you understand this complicated law and can be an effective leader in your organization to ensuring compliance. Public agency liability can be significant and costly so the best strategic plan is one of prevention. As we have conducted hundreds of FLSA compliance audits and handled FLSA litigation on behalf of our clients, we know that this is tough stuff and we designed this program to make it more clear and a bit easier as you move forward.  

This two-day workshop will cover all you need to know to understand the key areas covered by the FLSA including:

  • FLSA Basics
  • Work Periods & Hours Worked
  • Exemption Analysis
  • The Regular Rate of Pay & Compensatory Time Off
  • Conducting a Compliance Review

The program includes a combination of traditional training, case studies, calculation exercises, and hands-on practical elements. Participation in the program includes a copy of our FLSA Guide, which is a valuable resource to use in your agency on a regular basis. The program includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

This is a two-day event.  Each day will go from 9:00am - 4:00pm.

Who Should Attend?

Professionals in Human Resources, Finance, Legal Counsel, and Managers/Executives.

Liebert Cassidy Whitmore is an approved MCLE provider. Participating attorneys are eligible for 12 hours of MCLE. The person from your agency that registers for this seminar will receive the official set of MCLE forms. In order to receive your MCLE credit, you will need to complete and return these forms that will be available at the workshop. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received by October 1, 2019, to receive a full refund. No refunds will be given after that time. All credit card refunds requested after 45 days from the registration will be subject to a 10% refund charge. Participant substitutions are accepted any time prior to October 7, 2019.
