Releasing Probationary Employees – More Complex Than you Might Think

Even though probationary employees have no right to appeal their release from probationary, they still could assert other claims based on a release, such as discrimination or retaliation claims.  This webinar discusses the ways in which public safety agencies should analyze risk before releasing a probationary employee, and also discusses the necessity of creating documents reflecting the employee’s performance during probation.  The session will also cover whether an employee’s probationary status should affect the agency’s decision about opening an Internal Affairs investigation regarding the employee, and other strategic issues that arise with probationary employees in public safety departments.

Who Should Attend:

Police Sergeants and Command Staff, HR Professionals, and Risk Managers

MCLE:
Liebert Cassidy Whitmore is an approved MCLE provider. Participating attorneys are eligible for 1 hour of MCLE. The person from your agency that registers for this webinar will receive the official set of MCLE forms. In order to receive your MCLE credit, you will need to complete and return these forms that will be available at the workshop.
