Marketing Communications and Events Specialist

Overview

Liebert Cassidy Whitmore is a law firm that specializes in providing legal services and training to California organizations that serve others, including local government, schools, colleges and non-profits. More than just a law firm, we have been trusted advisors to these agencies for nearly 40 years.

The Communications and Events Specialist will support the Firm by being the point of contact in the response for RFP/RFQs and for coordination of firm-wide client engagement experiences including seminars and special events. This position involves strategizing, writing, event planning and project management.

This position requires strong communication, critical quick-thinking and attention to detail. The candidate must be able to handle the demands and pressures of a fast-paced environment and have the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. It is expected that the candidate will be technically savvy and detail oriented.  The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively with others in a team-oriented environment.  He/she will need strong client service orientation and exceptional time management skills. This role works as part of a statewide team, reporting to the Director of Marketing and Training.

Primary Responsibilities

Written Communication

  • Create competitive, high-quality proposals, pitch materials and interview presentations. This includes evaluating the opportunities of an RFP/RFQ/RFI, compiling answers to technical questions, writing language to effectively demonstrate the Firm’s expertise while ensuring consistency in messages, and creating interview presentation deliverables.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to gather content, client relationship data, Firm statistics, and competitive intelligence, and establish a work plan ensuring strict adherence to deadlines leading up to proposal submission. 
  • Prepare unique content and graphics (tables, graphs) to enhance overall appeal and write and produce other marketing collateral including interview presentations and brochures. 
  • Track completed proposals to maintain firm-wide statistics.
  • Craft clear and crisp copy for press releases, website and intranet content, articles, and collateral.
  • Coordinate Firm submissions to legal directories, awards and ranking publications.
  • Respond to general inquiries from clients and prospective clients.
  • Work with public relations firm on article deliverables for publication.

Events

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop customized events that meet the Firm’s business development objectives including client dinners, receptions and seminars/webinars.
  • Develop and execute project plans for all client/business development events firm-wide including budgeting, venue selection, invitation list development and design (including email and direct mail), material coordination, logistics, and follow-ups.
  • Represent the Firm at select events as a brand ambassador, converse with clients and industry professionals in an engaging, informative and articulate manner.
  • Create tailored packets of marketing collateral for specific events/clients.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of the Firm’s annual conference.

General Marketing Support

  • Assist as needed to coordinate and provide day to day client development support for all practices within the Firm, including research, tracking of activities and updating of marketing materials.
  • Assist with graphics and design work as necessary.
  • Participate in a variety of department projects as needed to assist the team.
  • Assist with proofreading the Firm’s newsletters, bulletins and alerts.
  • Maintain digital marketing collateral and inventory.
  • Coordinate assigned workshop updates to ensure timely completion and proper formatting of workshop material using Firm style guides.

This role will include miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of marketing and communication principles, preferably within legal industry.
  • Ability to write both short and crisp marketing copy as well as impactful and engaging proposals.
  • Strong grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills.
  • Dedicated to providing quality service to clients and consistently meet expectations by providing service beyond expectation.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task while responding to changing priorities.
  • Ability to build credibility with clients, Partners and Associates and form a collaborative relationship with other team members and staff.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in English, communications, business, marketing, journalism.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (legal industry, or similar professional services environment preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Legal experience is preferred.
