Joy J. Chen Associate

Joy Chen, an Associate in the San Francisco office of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, represents and advises public sector agencies in all aspects of labor, employment, and education law, including labor relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary proceedings, responding to EEOC/DFEH charges, reviewing and advising on personnel policies, the interactive accommodation process, and due process considerations. Her portfolio of clients consists of cities, counties, special districts, police and fire departments, public and private schools, and community college districts. Joy is experienced in various aspects of litigation before federal and California state courts, including law and motion, written discovery, depositions, settlement, and trial. She has defended employers in litigation claims for wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and other employment and tort claims.

Prior to joining Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, Joy worked for a full-service national firm where she defended clients in employment, product liability, pharmaceutical and life sciences, and personal injury matters. Joy earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine. Joy was the founder and chair of Loyola's ABA-award winning Diversity Program and served as Vice President for the Asian Pacific American Students Association. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Socrates P. Manoukian of the Superior Court of Santa Clara County.

Joy also speaks Mandarin Chinese.
