James Bonnie is an Associate in Liebert Cassidy Whitmore’s Fresno office. James is a prolific litigator. Before joining Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, James spent over six years as a Deputy District Attorney, where he prosecuted white-collar crime, human trafficking, homicide, gang, and 25 to life cases. James was one of the first prosecutors in Kings County to convict a defendant for human trafficking. He has tried more than 15 trials to verdict in addition to numerous bench trials and hearings.
James uses his public agency experience to represent his clients in all employment and labor law aspects, including litigation, employee discipline, administrative hearings, and investigation. He regularly defends agencies and schools against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims under federal and state law, including the American Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination and Employment Act (ADEA); Section 1983 claims, violations of state and/or federal rights, and wrongful termination. James also advises and counsels public agencies and schools on employee and student rights, negotiations, business contracts, and workplace investigations.
James obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon, Knight School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor & Managing Board Member for the Oregon Law Review and a member of Oregon’s Jessup International Moot Court team. James obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at California State University at East Bay, where he was a member of the dean’s list and a published author on Russian Politics.
