Morgan J. Johnson is an Associate in Liebert Cassidy Whitmore’s Fresno office, where he advises and represents clients in employment, education, and labor law matters. His practice focuses on defending agencies in administrative proceedings, writ actions, and litigation at both the trial and appellate level involving employee discipline, First Amendment issues, and discrimination and retaliation claims. Morgan also advises clients on the disability interactive process and regularly represents public agencies before the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Prior to joining LCW, Morgan developed a strong foundation in labor and constitutional law through his work with a nonprofit organization, where he conducted legal research, drafted motions, and prepared legal memoranda on labor union free speech issues. He also served as a Research Assistant at the University of California, Davis School of Law, supporting faculty research on antitrust and arbitration law.
Morgan is an accomplished legal scholar and author of a published article in the UC Davis Law Review examining constitutional stare decisis and the judicial approach to overturning established precedent.
Morgan earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law, where he served as Senior Articles Editor of the UC Davis Law Review. During law school, he was also an active member of Moot Court and First Generation Advocates and received the Academic Excellence Award in Lawyering Process.
He earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, with Departmental Honors, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Washington.
