Religious Schools and the Law: A Conversation with Pepperdine University Professor Michael (Avi) Helfand

CATEGORY: Webinars
PRESENTER: Michael Blacher
DATE: June 13 2022, 10:00 am

This year has been particularly significant when it comes to religious schools and the law.  And the year is not over!  There are still a number of noteworthy cases pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.  Please join LCW Partner Michael Blacher as he interviews the Brenden Mann Chair in Law and Religion at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, Michael (Avi) Helfand.  They will discuss recent developments, ongoing challenges, and peek at (and maybe predict) what may be just over the horizon.  Topics include:

  • Regulation of religious schools during the pandemic;
  • Religious schools and government funding;
  • Application of the Ministerial Exception; and
  • The role of Ecclesiastical Abstention

Participants will have the opportunity to ask Professor Helfand questions about these and other topics.

Please note that one registration equals one connection to the webinar. Links cannot be shared.
