Peter A. Cress is an experienced workplace investigator, regularly conducting investigations in matters pertaining to disciplinary issues, harassment and discrimination claims, labor relations and compliance with workplace policies.
In addition to conducting workplace investigations, Peter provides counsel and advice to employers on all aspects of labor and employment law. He also represents employers in litigation related to these matters. Peter’s investigation work is enriched by his extensive background in employment law and law enforcement.
Prior to joining Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, Peter served as Interim Chief of Police at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, where he provided executive leadership to the University Police Department, managed operations, and conducted internal investigations. Before that, he operated a private law practice, advising on employment and contract matters, and represented clients before regulatory agencies. He also served as a Lieutenant at the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, where he managed complex internal investigations, policy development, and training units.
