Lucy Goodnough is an Associate in the San Francisco office of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore where she practices in labor and employment law matters.
Lucy regularly works with public agency, private education, and nonprofit clients, providing advice and counsel on navigating a broad array of employment-related issues, such as leaves, accommodation, discipline, and workplace investigations, as well as anti-discrimination, harassment, and retaliation law. Lucy’s practice also includes advising on matters related to business and facilities use. She regularly assists clients with preparing and reviewing contracts, handbooks and policies.
She is a member of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore’s Workplace Violence Prevention team, where she played a significant role in helping clients comply with new obligations regarding workplace violence prevention under Labor Code section 6401.9. She works closely with clients to develop and update their workplace violence prevention plans and training materials and to conduct trainings for their employees. Lucy draws on substantial litigation experience in her practice and represents clients in administrative proceedings, such as Civil Rights Department and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charges.
Prior to joining Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, Lucy served as a Senior Associate at a prominent San Jose based law firm, where her practice focused on employment and civil disputes, civil litigation in federal district court, state trial and appellate courts, arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Prior to that, Lucy started as a Law Clerk and progressed to Senior Associate and Of Counsel at a Silicon Valley boutique intellectual property law firm, where she showcased her proficiency in civil litigation in arbitration and state courts as well as federal district and bankruptcy courts. Her practice encompassed employment, contract, fiduciary, intellectual property, fraud, and computer and internet fraud claims.
Lucy has achieved notable success in various cases, securing arbitration awards, negotiating settlements, and successfully defending against counterclaims.
Lucy obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly University of California, Hastings College of the Law), where she was a Chancellor’s Scholar and member of the Pro Bono Society, and sang in the Legal Notes acapella group. As an undergraduate, Lucy attended Stanford University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Urban Studies and Philosophy.
