Madeline Cline is an Associate in the San Francisco office of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore. Madeline specializes in employment law, labor relations and litigation matters pertaining to public agencies and educational institutions.
Madeline represents public agencies and educational institutions in a wide range of labor and employment matters. Their practice includes representing educational institutions in arbitrations defending disciplinary actions, including termination decisions, as well as in agency Personnel Board proceedings.
Madeline regularly represents clients before the California Civil Rights Department, the California Public Employment Relations Board, the National Labor Relations Board, and the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, and also handles related civil court matters.
In addition to litigation and agency advocacy, Madeline advises clients on grievances and employee misconduct matters, including issues involving progressive discipline. They provide oversight and guidance regarding workplace investigations, advise on Public Records Act compliance, and review, draft, and audit personnel policies and procedures for a broad range of public agencies, including educational institutions.
Madeline has recently and successfully defended an educational institution in two separate termination arbitrations.
Madeline earned her J.D. from the University of California College of the Law (formerly UC Hastings) where she distinguished herself as a National Champion at the UC Davis Asylum & Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition in 2022. She also provided more than 40 hours of pro bono work through her membership in the Pro Bono Society. Madeline received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, with a minor in Political Economy, from the University of California, Berkeley.
