SB 848 Implementation Workshop: Training, Hiring, and Reporting Obligations for Private Schools
Join LCW for an in-depth webinar on Senate Bill (SB) 848, the School Employee Misconduct: Child Abuse Prevention Act, recently signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. SB 848 represents a major shift in California’s oversight of private schools—introducing new obligations for child safety, staff training, hiring practices, and misconduct reporting.
Topics will include:
- Expanding mandated reporter obligations for employees, volunteers, and board members
- Required abuse-prevention and boundary training for staff and students
- Development of professional boundary and student-safety policies
- New hiring, vetting, and misconduct disclosure rules
- Integration with the statewide Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) misconduct database
This webinar will demystify SB 848 and answer common questions about what schools must do and how to do it. LCW attorneys will walk participants through the key requirements, practical steps for implementation, and strategies to stay ahead of the July 2026 and July 2027 compliance deadlines.
