Shelline Bennett

Shelline brings her 30 years of practicing exclusively in employment law, including at an international-law firm litigating cases, to the investigation practice.  Shelline has represented management her entire career.  With her knowledge and extensive experience, employers request Shelline for their high-level and high profile investigations into all employment issues, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and disciplinary-related investigations. Shelline is also regularly called upon to train investigators in conducting legally compliant, thorough investigations that can withstand litigation scrutiny.

Shelline has served as a managing partner for over 25 years.  She resides and works out of San Diego and regularly travels up and down the state managing offices in Central California and Sacramento.  Shelline co-manages the firm’s investigation practice. In addition to serving as an investigator, Shelline has extensive experience overseeing the entire investigation process and can assist employers and their HR professionals with all aspects of an investigation, including retaining outside investigators, preparing the scope of investigation, analyzing investigation findings of fact, providing legal conclusions and recommendations, preparing investigators for testimony, and working with key employees and board members throughout the process.

Shelline regularly provides training to both in-house and independent investigators.  She is a core faculty member of LCW’s Train the Investigator program, which meets the CRD Guidelines for investigators.  Shelline is an Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Certificate Holder and conducts trainings for AWI. Shelline can be watched monthly on a TV employment-law update, where she speaks about investigation best practices.

Shelline earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.  Shelline has continued to be recognized consistently throughout her career including as a Northern California Super Lawyer, Top Women Attorneys in Northern California, and as a Labor and Employment Super Lawyer.
