LOS ANGELES- Liebert Cassidy Whitmore is pleased to announce that Partners Suzanne Solomon and Brian Walter have been chosen as the Daily Journal’s 2023 Top Labor and Employment Lawyers for their steadfast loyalty to our clients and unwavering dedication to the legal profession.

Daily Journal’s Top Labor and Employment Lawyers are selected based on nominee achievements within the past 1-2 years and professional/community involvement.

Background on Suzanne Solomon

Partner Suzanne Solomon is a trusted advisor and aggressive advocate for public entities in labor and employment matters.  As an experienced trial attorney, Suzanne has tried cases before judges and juries in both state and federal courts.  Suzanne’s litigation skills resulted in her case Stebbins v. California Public Utilities Commission, named a 2022 Top Verdict by Daily Journal.  Suzanne has extensive experience representing law enforcement agencies, including winning summary judgment of discrimination claims made against Police Departments and command staff.  Suzanne has handled appellate matters in state and federal courts, including a case of first impression in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals regarding the criteria courts may use in deciding whether to grant interlocutory review of class certification decisions.  Suzanne is also a prominent and “go-to” partner in the firm, and as a seasoned litigator/trial lawyer, she represents clients on all labor and employment law cases, working with public sector agencies and nonprofits, representing cities, counties, special districts, police departments and fire departments.  Suzanne is also one of the firm’s most sought-after trainers.  She pioneered training for employers on recognizing unconscious bias and behaviors that can communicate hostility to others.  This training helps attendees recognize bias and learn to engage in more objective decision-making.

Background on Brian Walter

Recently named a Leader of Influence: Top Litigators & Trial Attorneys by the Los Angeles Business Journal, Partner Brian Walter, who is chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, has specialized in successfully defending public employers in employment claims brought against those employers by their current and former employees.  Brian has extensive experience handling class and collective actions in federal and state courts in addition to FLSA issues.  Brian has written amicus briefs on behalf of public employer organizations to the Third Circuit, Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court.  He has also published numerous articles regarding labor and employment issues, including articles for the IPMA Public Personnel Management Journal, Los Angeles Daily Journal, and California Public Employee Relations Journal.  Brian has also participated in drafting of legislation regarding wage and hour issues.
