LOS ANGELESLiebert Cassidy Whitmore (“LCW”) is pleased to announce three Los Angeles partners have been named as National Law Journal’s Crisis Leadership Trailblazers. Firm Managing Partner J. Scott Tiedemann, Steven M. Berliner and Peter J. Brown were selected for their work in educating and guiding clients on labor and employment issues related to COVID-19.

Through the development of a COVID-19 Strike Team, Scott, Steven and Peter have dedicated their time to monitoring updates related to local, state and federal orders and disseminating information to its clients in real time. They have overseen over fifty special bulletins released to clients and complimentary standardized templates for California employers to assist with COVID-19 related policies, as well as offering weekly webinars and Q&A sessions.

J. Scott Tiedemann is the Managing Partner of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, where he is a leading advocate for and trusted advisor to public safety agencies across California.  He is called upon in high profile cases to advise public safety executives regarding how to conduct complex investigations, manage media relations and navigate the procedural complexities of the Public Safety Officers and Firefighters Procedural Bill of Rights. He is General Counsel to the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs Association and previously served as Chair of the Southern California Police Legal Advisors Committee.

Steven M. Berliner is the Chair of LCW’s Retirement, Health and Disability Practice Group and works to ensure that LCW stays on the cutting edge of the law related to these important areas. He has renowned expertise in the area of public agency retirement laws and vested rights. His extensive experience allows him to be ahead of the curve in spotting issues and trends in retirement law. Steve has an extensive labor relations practice and unparalleled retirement law expertise, and he has acted as chief negotiator for many public agencies in labor negotiations with their employee groups, helping them reduce payroll and other costs.

Peter J. Brown is the Chair of LCW’s Labor Relations and Wage & Hour Practice Groups, where he is responsible for developing both internal training for the attorneys as well as external training to the firm’s clients on the latest Labor Relations and Wage & Hour developments. Peter has a unique talent in promptly developing an expertise in most of the laws that impact our public agency clients including the labor relations statutes and those which the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Acts.  Many of the firm’s clients have come to rely on his advice in guiding them in these constantly changing areas of law as well as on problem solving many of the labor issues our clients face.
