LCW’s Layoff Bootcamp: Public Education Staffing Reductions

CATEGORY: Webinars on Demand

Is your district facing potential layoffs? If staffing reductions may be on the horizon for your district, now is the time to begin planning. Thoughtful preparation is essential to avoid the common challenges that districts encounter during economic downturns. In today’s climate of financial uncertainty, proactive planning is more important than ever. Districts must make strategic staffing decisions well in advance of the deadlines for issuing layoff notices to employees.

Making difficult decisions about reducing academic and classified staff requires careful planning and strict compliance with complex legal requirements. LCW’s Layoff Bootcamp is designed to help you navigate these challenges with confidence. This comprehensive workshop will walk you through every critical step of the layoff process, including:

  • Understanding and meeting key timelines and legal deadlines;
  • Addressing board resolutions and actions required to support and implement layoffs;
  • Calculating seniority and addressing bumping rights;
  • Managing the layoff hearing process;
  • Preparing for impact bargaining and fulfilling your negotiations obligations;
  • Reviewing reemployment rights and post-layoff responsibilities;
  • Categorical/specially funded position reductions.

We’ll also present real life case studies to illustrate how districts can implement staffing reductions lawfully and effectively. Whether you’re anticipating reductions or simply preparing for potential economic challenges, this workshop will equip you with the tools and knowledge to make sound, compliant decisions. We’ve successfully helped districts navigate the complexities of layoffs, and we’re ready to guide you through the process as trusted legal advisors with the expertise you can rely on.
