LCW Announces Attorneys Megan Atkinson & Monica Espejo Have Been Elevated to Senior Counsel

LOS ANGELES- Liebert Cassidy Whitmore is pleased to announce that Megan Atkinson and Monica Espejo have been named Senior Counsel, effective June 1, 2024.

Background on Our New Senior Counsel

Megan Atkinson works from the Los Angeles office of Liebert Cassidy Whitmore, where she provides advice and counsel regarding a variety of employment law matters.  She focuses her practice on public safety employment issues, including the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act and the Firefighters Procedural Bill of Rights Act.  She regularly assists clients throughout the disciplinary process, from the initiation of an investigation through termination.

Megan also represents public entities in labor and employment litigation.  She regularly defends against claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.  She litigates in both state and federal court and has experience from pre-litigation through trial.  Megan was selected to the Southern California Rising Stars list from 2019 through 2023.  She was also honored as a Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch from 2021 through 2024 in the area of Labor and Employment Law – Management.

Monica M. Espejo works from Liebert Cassidy Whitmore’s Sacramento office where she provides representation and counsel to employers in matters pertaining to labor & employment and education.  Monica works closely with private and independent schools guiding clients on a wide array of issues including employee and student discipline issues, investigations, terminations, contract disputes, and leave and accommodation issues.  She also defends public agency clients against claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Monica’s practice included handling disputes through all phases of litigation from the pleading stage through trial, and she draws on this experience to help clients avoid litigation.  Monica also provides advice and counsel to clients on employment-related claims and has conducted investigations into allegations of harassment and misconduct.
